Youth Leadership Summit

Two high school juniors, a male and female, are selected by their guidance counselor to attend the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association's - Youth Leadership Summit. The three day seminar is held in March each year in Nashville, Tennessee. While at the Youth Leadership Summit, students participate in leadership training, visit with their representatives from the legislature and senate. At the leadership summit, during cooperative learning sessions, the students form a mock cooperative and elect a 10-member board that, in turn, elects officers and hires a cooperative manager and attorney. When presented with exaggerated stories of real-life problems that co-ops face, the "board" decides how the situations should be handled. The Youth Leadership Summit is rotated among the high schools in CFEC's service area.
